Justine Juel Gillmer ("The Hundredth Son Of Earth," "Wasteland") wrote the screenplay, based on the book "Harry Haft: Survivor Of Auschwitz, Challenger Of Rocky Marciano," written by Haft's son Alan Scott Haft, about a man in Auschwitz concentration camp is forced to engage in a brutal joust with his fellow prisoners, where victory means living to wait for another day, while the 76 opponents he defeats take the road to death. Haft bears a heavy burden of guilt as he tries to find a reason to live again by competing in high-profile post-World War II boxing tournaments, fighting legends like Rocky Marciano, and hoping to find the woman he fell in love with before the war who inspired him to fight to stay alive at the hands of the Nazis.
